Ho Guom Project

Ha Noi City, Vietnam

Garment Ho Guom JSC is developing an office and apartment building, including a two level basement in the Ho Guom District, Hanoi. The tender solution was based on steel strutting for retaining the Diaphragm Wall. In order to optimize cost and program of works the developer awarded Bauer based on a design and build contract the design and construction of temporary ground anchors as alternative retaining system for the two level basement.

The design was carried out with the aim to keep the anchors as short as possible in order not to affect the neighbouring buildings. Works had to be carried out in parallel to the mass excavation during the beginning of the raining season. Special care was required to prepare appropriate working platforms allowing the proper performance of the works.

The diaphragm wall was already installed when Bauer was awarded the works. Therefore, no anchor pipes had been installed into the diaphragm wall allowing the passage for the anchor strands. Bauer drilled the required holes directly with the anchor machine coring through the concrete of the diaphragm wall build by others.

Scope of Works:
178 nos Temporary Ground Anchor, length from 12,8 – 20 m, 5 wire Strand Anchor.
