PVFC Land is developing a 15-storey office building on a land plot of 45 m by 50 m at Mac Dinh Chi Street in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City. The plot is surrounded by very close adjacent buildings. In order to optimize the space available a deep car park of three basements is planned and the retaining walls are just sitting on the plot boundary line.
BAUER Vietnam Ltd has been awarded the works consisting of Bored Piles of Ø 1,200 mm, 55 m in length for the foundations and a secant pile wall
Ø 1,000 mm for the retaining wall. The Secant Pile Wall was proposed and designed by Bauer in order to offer a safe technique for the execution of the
retaining wall directly next to the adjacent buildings. The Secant Pile Wall is extended to 42 m depth to cut-off the groundwater enabling the excavation works. The wall is integrated into the permanent basement structure.
Works had to be carried out with only 0.40 m distance to the existing buildings. Double wall casings made of steel had been installed by the BG
type drill rig to 18m depth to protect the existing buildings from any cracks or damages.
Scope of Works:
• 58 nos of Bored Piles Æ1,200 mm, depth up to 55 m
• Secant Pile Wall Æ1,000 mm, 196 nos Bored Piles, depth 42 m
